In today’s society, our busy schedules have caused us to feel like we don’t have any time🕰️ to do anything and this includes getting some well-needed sleep.😴

It is not unusual for many individuals to go to bed around midnight and then wake up very early the next day to complete what they couldn’t the day before.

You may be thinking, “That’s not so bad. I do this now!”🙃

You may not realize this but getting a good night’s rest is essential if you want to live a healthy lifestyle.

Sleep allows your body to rest and heal from the long day you had.

It also helps you to lose weight by blocking the hormone cortisol.

When you have high cortisol levels, your weight increases.

Sleeping lowers your cortisol levels.

There are so many more benefits to sleeping and why it is so essential to your health so let’s get into it.

Why Is Sleep So Important?

Numerous aspects of sleep are still undiscovered even though experts have been engaged in many different scientific studies for decades.

Clearly, sleep has long been a mystery.

Even so, there are a few facts to convince you that sleeping is an important activity.

Simply have a look at a young child.👧🏾

When it’s time for a child to take a nap, you will soon have to deal with the struggle of getting them to lay down.

Having said that, after getting a short nap, a child is back to their energetic self.

In reality, the same also happens for adults when they have sleep deprivation.😳

Needless to say, they will not exhibit the same responses as children will, but similar things happen.

What Happens While You Sleep?

There are many important processes that take place while you are getting a good night’s rest.💤

A bodily chemical that influences growth, cell reproduction and regeneration in humans is issued.

This hormone is very essential during the growth period of children.

This is why babies 👶🏾 🍼sleep so many hours every day.

The HGH or the human growth hormone is being activated in babies.

Their bodies need that energy to grow. ⚡️

Sleep allows their bodies to do so.

This hormone is also used for the restoration of your tissue structure.

As you can see, this hormone is very important and is why adults need at least 8 hours of sleep every night for their bodies to get the rest it needs to repair and re-energize. 😆

Besides issuing HGH, a system that protects against disease in your body is also affected by the quality of sleep you get.

Simply put, the body’s defense mechanism will not function normally if you have sleep deprivation.

If you have noticed that you have been sick 🤒 a lot and you haven’t been getting adequate amounts of sleep this is why.

Set The Mood

If you have trouble falling asleep, maybe you need to ‘set the mood’ before you hop into the bed.

One way to do this is to drink some soothing herbal tea.🍵

I love drinking tea that has a little bit of cinnamon in it.

It just relaxes me right away.💆🏾

Another way to set the mood is by making sure your bedroom is set up in a way that promotes relaxation.

If you can dim the lights💡 in your room do so.

That is a signal to your brain 🧠 and your body that it is time to go to bed.🛏️

Another thing you can do is use a diffuser.

I use one every night before I go to bed. 🛌

It is a nice white noise (if you like to sleep to that).

When I use my diffuser, I add a few drops of lavender essential oil.

This kind of oil puts me to sleep in seconds.😴

The beautiful aroma is so calming to my senses 👃🏾 that I instantly fall to sleep the minute my head hits the pillow.

The diffuser I have has a light show that shows mostly calming colors like blues, greens, and purples.

If you do not want to get a diffuser or use any essential oils, then I recommend a lavender pillow spray.

What this spray does is promote sleep.😴

All you do is spray a little bit of it onto your pillow.

Let it dry a little bit (so you are not laying your head on a somewhat wet pillow) and then before you fall asleep try to take at least 3 deep breaths in and out.

Deep breathing is another great way to tell your body its time to relax.

As you are inhaling deeply the soothing lavender scent is getting into your body and helping you to relax.

You can also try to fall asleep to the soothing sounds of nature. 🌳🌸🌼🌲

Make Sure You Go To Bed!🛏️

In essence, the significance of sleep cannot be emphasized enough.

Lack of sleep has unwanted side effects on your physical and mental condition such as finding it hard to concentrate😩 and to make reasonable judgments.

This can put you in a dangerous situation, especially when you must react to something quickly.

Once again, sleep 💤 can be viewed as an activity for developing and rebuilding the body.

It is needed to regain the energy that has been used throughout the day.

If you have quality, sound sleep, you will acquire an adequate amount of energy to carry out the new day’s tasks.

Even so, bear in mind that the amount of sleep you need may not be equal to the amount someone else may need.

Try to make sure you always get the full amount of rest your body needs.

If not, your system will begin demanding it.

So grab your favorite stuff animal🐶 🐱and your snuggly blanket and let’s get some sleep! 😴

To getting the proper amount of sleep each night,
